About Micro-Credit Foundation EKI

The Micro-Credit Foundation EKI (MCF EKI) originated from the microcredit program of World Vision International (WVI) in 1996. The first branch of the WVI Microcredit Program was opened in Zenica, and four years later, WVI expanded its operations to seven more locations in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Republika Srpska.

In March 2001, the local microcredit organization was officially registered, taking the name Microcredit Organization EKI (MCO EKI). Operating under this name until 2008, the Microcredit Organization EKI was then re-registered as the Micro-Credit Foundation EKI, and it has been operating under this name since. As of today, EKI has 84 branches with 385 employees.

MCF EKI is now one of the leading microcredit institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, serving over 24,930 clients with a total credit portfolio exceeding 90 million convertible marks. EKI's loans and services aim to stimulate and enhance agriculture, small businesses, and craftsmanship.

From the inception of its operations, EKI has been dedicated to building a strong and financially sustainable institution that reinvests its profits into additional credit capital.
