EKI Donation to ISF Emmaus, Potočari, Srebrenica

In the heart of Potočari, on the road between Bratunac and Srebrenica, there is a place that means much more than just a roof over their heads for many children – a second home.

The boarding facility of ISF Emmaus in Potočari brings together children from rural and hard-to-reach areas of Bratunac, Srebrenica, Milići, and Vlasenica, providing them with free support, safety, and the opportunity for quality education. The project, launched in 2012 with the support of donors and partners, has a clear goal – to provide children with a stable learning environment, healthy and regular meals, and activities that encourage their development, socialization, and skill-building.

Today, the boarding facility accommodates around 18 primary school students and 48 high school students, while additional support is also provided through a day-care program for the youngest – children from the first to the fifth grade of primary school. For them, this is a place where they receive help with their studies, feel safe while their parents are at work, and have space for social interaction and personal development.

In discussions with representatives of ISF Emmaus, led by Assistant Director Danijela Stanojević, specific needs were identified that directly impact the children’s daily lives. In response, Microcredit Foundation EKI provided a donation that includes one color printer and four smart convectors. This support is not just a technical upgrade – it means warmer rooms, easier access to school materials, and improved conditions for learning and living.

Gratitude was not lacking. The Assistant Director emphasized how much this donation will enhance the children’s daily activities and facilitate the work of the staff, highlighting that this kind of support has long-term significance for the functioning of the boarding facility and the quality of life of its users.

Through this initiative, we aimed to send a clear message to the local community – that responsibility toward future generations is not just a statement, but concrete action. Being present in the field, understanding needs, and responding to them – this is the foundation of the socially responsible business we strive for.
